The grant opportunities listed on this page are subject to sponsorship support. Availability, number of grants, and funding levels will depend on sponsorship secured for OPTIMA‑CON 27.

Eligibility Criteria and Award Conditions

Please note that discounted ticket prices are only available for Early Bird Standard and Early Bird Student tickets, and full price tickets. Tickets that are otheriwse discounted are not eligible for any additional discounts.

Women in Optimisation Travel Grants

Thanks to the generosity of AMSI, we are able to offer this grant.

Eligibility Criteria and Award Conditions

To be eligible for a Women in Optimisation OPTIMA-CON 27 Travel Grant, you must:

  • Identify as a woman undertaking research in optimisation
  • Be an academic, research fellow, or current postgraduate student undertaking optimisation research
  • Work at or attend an Australian university outside Metropolitan Melbourne
  • You DO NOT need to be a member of OPTIMA
  • Be presenting a seminar or a poster at the conference
  • Register to and attend the conference in person for its full duration (3 days)
  • Be prepared to submit a 500-word 'reflection' report for OPTIMA to promote the event
  • Have the consent of your institution/primary supervisor to attend this event
  • Acknowledge that the travel grant does not cover conference registration costs
  • Recipients of this grant will also receive a 15% discount on the standard conference registration fee.

Travel grants are awarded at the discretion of OPTIMA. The total amount reimbursed will be equal to or less than $1,250, depending on actual travel expenses incurred. Applicants are encouraged to seek additional sources of funding support where required.

  • Be a current postgraduate student undertaking research in optimisation (any discipline).
  • Be enrolled at an Australian university outside Metropolitan Melbourne.
  • You do not need to be a member of OPTIMA.
  • Be presenting a talk or poster at the conference.
  • Register to and attend the conference in person for its full duration (3 days)
  • Be prepared to submit a 500-word reflection report for OPTIMA to promote the event.
  • Have the consent of your primary supervisor to attend the event.

ECA Travel Grants

Thanks to the generosity of AMSI, we are able to offer an Early Career Academic (ECA) Travel Grant to support attendance at OPTIMA-CON 27.

Eligibility Criteria and Award Conditions

To be eligible for an OPTIMA-CON 27 Early Career Academic (ECA) Travel Grant, you must:

  • Be an academic or research fellow undertaking optimisation research.
  • Have been awarded your PhD within the past five years, or within the past seven years where a period of maternity leave has occurred during that time.
  • Be employed by an Australian university outside Metropolitan Melbourne.
  • You do not need to be a member of OPTIMA.
  • Be presenting a talk or poster at the conference.
  • Register for and attend the conference in person for its full duration (3 days).
  • Be prepared to submit a 500-word reflection report for OPTIMA to promote the event.
  • Have the consent of your institution to attend the event.
  • Acknowledge that the travel grant does not cover conference registration costs.
